Florida Apprentice Contact Lens Certificate Program

The Professional Opticians of Florida (POF) offers a comprehensive 32-hour Contact Lens Certificate Program that meets and exceeds Florida’s Apprenticeship Training Requirements for apprentices sponsored by a non–Board Certified optician, in accordance with Florida Administrative Rule 64B12-16.003.
Designed specifically for Florida Apprentice Opticians, this blended program combines flexible online learning with hands-on clinical training led by experienced contact lens professionals.
Program at a Glance
Total Training: 32 Hours
- 13 hours of self-paced education
- 19 hours of live clinical training
Apprentices build a strong foundation online before applying their skills during an immersive clinical workshop.
Part 1: Online Education (13 Hours)
Complete the online coursework at your own pace before attending the live workshop. The curriculum covers essential contact lens theory and prepares participants for hands-on clinical training.
Part 2: Live Clinical Workshop (19 Hours)

This intensive three-day workshop provides real-world experience in:
• Contact lens fitting
• Lens evaluation
• Troubleshooting
• Patient care and education
Participants work directly with expert instructors in a supervised clinical environment.
Registration Requirement
To attend the clinical workshop, participants must:
• Register for the Certificate Program
• Complete all 13 online hours by September 6, 2026

POF Member Rate: $425
Includes a complimentary one-year POF Apprentice Membership.

Cancellation Policy
• Cancel for any reason and receive 100% credit toward a future POF event.
• Cancellations received 14 days or more before the event will receive a credit to the participant's POF account.
• Cancellations received within 14 days of the event are non-refundable and non-transferable.
